New Shang­hai rail­way sta­tion to be built

The Na­tional Devel­op­ment and Re­form Com­mis­sion re­cently ap­proved the con­struc­tion of a new rail­way be­tween Taicang of Jiangsu Prov­ince and Si­tuan of Shang­hai’s Fengx­ian district, ac­cord­ing to east­

The sec­ond phase of con­struc­tion be­tween Shang­hai and Nan­tong of Jiangsu Prov­ince will cost 36.82 bil­lion yuan ($5.53 mil­lion). The con­struc­tion is sched­uled to be com­pleted within five years.

Ac­cord­ing to the ap­proval doc­u­ment, the line will ex­tend 111.8 kilo­me­ters and six sta­tions, in­clud­ing Shang­hai East Rail­way Sta­tion.

As Shang­hai Mu­nic­i­pal Bu­reau of Plan­ning and Land Re­sources de­cided last Septem­ber, the new sta­tion will be lo­cated in Zhuqiao town of Pudong New Area. With 10 plat­forms and 22 lanes, the new sta­tion will be­come Shang­hai’s fourth high-class rail­way sta­tion.

Ac­cord­ing to the Shang­hai Rail­way Bu­reau, con­struc­tion is ex­pected to start later this year.
