Authorities give warning to transport companies

Global Times – Metro Shanghai - - PULSE -

The Law Enforcement Department of Shanghai Municipal Transportation Commission met with 22 companies suspected of overloading trucks Wednesday morning, Xinmin Evening News reported.

This is the first such talk since Shanghai implemented an automatic inspection system in 2016 that can detect overloading without actually stopping passing vehicles.

Inspection data shows that, from August 7 to 31, over 70,000 among 823,000 passing vehicles were overloaded. Shanghai branch of China National Petroleum Corp (CNPC) Transportation Co and Shanghai Dengguan Logistics Co were caught overloading.

As overloading causes damage to roads as well as potential traffic hazards, the department requires all listed companies to cease overloading and report their rectification measures to the department.
