Shang­hai solved 1,000 cases of net­work fraud

Over 1,000 cases of tele­com net­work fraud were solved in Shang­hai be­tween July and Au­gust, with 16,000 res­i­dents pro­tected from po­ten­tial fi­nan­cial crimes, Laodong Daily re­ported Mon­day.

It is worth men­tion­ing that tele­com fraud­sters con­tinue to up­grade their meth­ods by brain­wash­ing vic­tims. Many in­no­cent peo­ple even­tu­ally suf­fer prop­erty loss or worse.

On­line shop­ping had the high­est in­ci­dence of fraud, at 21.5 per­cent of all cases. The vic­tims were mostly young adults.

Pos­ing as law en­force­ment of­fi­cers or public se­cu­rity or court of­fi­cials ac­counted for 4.8 per­cent of all cases. The vic­tims were mainly mid­dle-aged or older than 50.
