Shanghai solved 1,000 cases of network fraud
Over 1,000 cases of telecom network fraud were solved in Shanghai between July and August, with 16,000 residents protected from potential financial crimes, Laodong Daily reported Monday.
It is worth mentioning that telecom fraudsters continue to upgrade their methods by brainwashing victims. Many innocent people eventually suffer property loss or worse.
Online shopping had the highest incidence of fraud, at 21.5 percent of all cases. The victims were mostly young adults.
Posing as law enforcement officers or public security or court officials accounted for 4.8 percent of all cases. The victims were mainly middle-aged or older than 50.
