Shang­hainese cul­ture at 28th Na­tional Book Expo

The 28th Na­tional Book Expo will be held through Sun­day in Shen­zhen. Over 60 Shang­hai publishers will be present. The event is themed “Read­ing in Shang­hai, qual­ity life.”

The Shang­hai del­e­ga­tion has 81 booths this year, out­num­ber­ing any other del­e­ga­tion from any other prov­ince in China. The Shang­hai ex­hi­bi­tion area lay­out has a sim­ple, unique Shang­hainese style, fea­tur­ing shiku­men (stone gates, a tra­di­tional lo­cal ar­chi­tec­ture).

The Shang­hai del­e­ga­tion will present 6,000 books with a to­tal value of over 1.2 mil­lion yuan ($178,000), cover­ing a wide range of fields such as so­cial sci­ence, art, an­cient works, tech­nol­ogy, ed­u­ca­tion and chil­dren’s lit­er­a­ture.

In ad­di­tion, un­der the theme of “Tech­nol­ogy brings bet­ter era,” the Shang­hai del­e­ga­tion will or­ga­nize over 20 pe­ri­od­i­cal publishers to dis­play 56 chil­dren’s sci­ence pe­ri­od­i­cals and English aca­demic jour­nals of great in­ter­na­tional in­flu­ence.
