Sitting on engine hood of running car lands tourists in trouble in Dali
A woman sitting on a running car’s engine hood and a man driving the car at the speed of 50 kilometers per hour were fined by the traffic police in Dali, Southwest China’s Yunnan Province, The Beijing News reported Thursday.
A netizen uploaded on Sina Weibo a video clip of the woman sitting on the car hood while the man was driving the car around Erhai Lake in Dali at 3:20 pm last Thursday.
“Are they shooting the film Fast and Furious?” the netizen asked on his Weibo account.
After investigation, Dali traffic police found the driver surnamed Chen and the woman surnamed Yao from East China’s Jiangsu Province had traveled to Dali by a rented car.
When they drove to Huanhai Road East on September 20, Chen suggested Yao sit on the car hood to take photos. Yao followed the advice.
When the police tracked down Chen and Yao through the car plate information and contacted them by phone, they both confessed their illegal behaviors.
According to China’s traffic laws, Chen was fined 150 yuan ($21.79) and had two points deducted from his driving license while Yao was fined 50 yuan.
