Sit­ting on en­gine hood of run­ning car lands tourists in trou­ble in Dali

A woman sit­ting on a run­ning car’s en­gine hood and a man driv­ing the car at the speed of 50 kilo­me­ters per hour were fined by the traf­fic po­lice in Dali, South­west China’s Yun­nan Prov­ince, The Bei­jing News re­ported Thurs­day.

A ne­ti­zen up­loaded on Sina Weibo a video clip of the woman sit­ting on the car hood while the man was driv­ing the car around Erhai Lake in Dali at 3:20 pm last Thurs­day.

“Are they shoot­ing the film Fast and Fu­ri­ous?” the ne­ti­zen asked on his Weibo ac­count.

Af­ter in­ves­ti­ga­tion, Dali traf­fic po­lice found the driver sur­named Chen and the woman sur­named Yao from East China’s Jiangsu Prov­ince had trav­eled to Dali by a rented car.

When they drove to Huan­hai Road East on Septem­ber 20, Chen sug­gested Yao sit on the car hood to take pho­tos. Yao fol­lowed the ad­vice.

When the po­lice tracked down Chen and Yao through the car plate in­for­ma­tion and con­tacted them by phone, they both con­fessed their il­le­gal be­hav­iors.

Ac­cord­ing to China’s traf­fic laws, Chen was fined 150 yuan ($21.79) and had two points de­ducted from his driv­ing li­cense while Yao was fined 50 yuan.
