VEHICLES JD.com tests autonomous vans
JD.com Inc, China’s largest retailer, has announced partnerships with SAIC Maxus, the leading domestic commercial vehicle manufacturer, and Dongfeng Motor Corp, the country’s top automobile manufacturer, to conduct research into China’s first autonomous vans.
SAIC Maxus’ electric van can sense obstacles 150 meters away and plans its route by leveraging its radar system, sensors and positioning system, according to a statement the company sent to the Global Times on Thursday.
JD.com Inc has been tapping into artificial intelligence in recent years.
The company also provides various scenarios for autonomous vans, which will contribute to its smart logistics ecosystems.
