Hong Kong World’s Most Pop­u­lar, Ex­pen­sive City

Mar­ket in­tel­li­gence firm Euromon­i­tor has re­leased their an­nual Top City Des­ti­na­tions list, in which they rank the world’s 100 most pop­u­lar cities to travel to. Asia re­mains the dom­i­nant re­gion for city tourism, with over one third of the top 100 cities lo­cated in Asia. For the sixth year in a row Hong Kong reigns at the top of the list, with around 22.7 mil­lion in­ter­na­tional vis­i­tors—that’s 10 mil­lion more than its near­est ri­val, Lon­don. Much of Hong Kong’s sta­tus has to do with in­creas­ing num­bers of vis­i­tors from main­land China, cou­pled with re­laxed visa re­stric­tions. Also for the sixth year in a row: Hong Kong has the most ex­pen­sive hous­ing mar­ket in the world.
