A peace­ful en­clave on the south­side of Lan­tau just around the coast from Dis­cov­ery Bay, Mui Wo’s trop­i­cal vibe, rel­a­tively mod­est rents and con­ve­nient ferry cross­ings have seen its multi­na­tional com­mu­nity swell over the past few years. And with some great restau­rants and bars, a de­cent beach, tem­ples and his­tor­i­cal points of in­ter­est, fes­ti­vals, in­ter­est­ing stores and nu­mer­ous hik­ing routes, there’s some­thing for ev­ery­one. It’s also the gate­way to the rest of Lan­tau, with buses that run to Tung Chung, Che­ung Sha, Tai O, the Ngong Ping 360 and the air­port. Just don’t try to ride the buffalo…
