Af­ter launch­ing two highly suc­cess­ful restau­rants in Hong Kong, Miche­lin-starred chef Philippe Or­rico cer­tainly had his work cut out for him when he de­cided to open a third.

But Or­rico thrives on chal­lenges. He de­lights in mak­ing the seem­ingly im­pos­si­ble pos­si­ble. Hav­ing founded the No­mad Group in 2013, he rapidly ex­panded the busi­ness.

The group owns and op­er­ates Up­per Mod­ern Bistro in She­ung Wan and ON Din­ing Kitchen & Lounge in Cen­tral. Both are pop­u­lar din­ing spots in a city famed world­wide for its nu­mer­ous great restau­rants.

So when Or­rico opened the group’s third res­tau­rant an ea­ger public was wait­ing with bated breath to see what con­cept he had in store. They ex­pected some­thing dif­fer­ent. And he didn’t dis­ap­point. When Pic­nic on Forbes opened in De­cem­ber 2015 the im­pact was elec­tri­fy­ing. Or­rico has con­jured up a mas­ter­piece pay­ing homage to French café cul­ture.

Pic­nic on Forbes of­fers the per­fect lo­ca­tion to get away from it all and re­lax in the tranquil set­ting of a French pic­nic. The am­bi­ence at this food lovers’ des­ti­na­tion cap­tures that au­then­tic French feel. It serves pic­nic bas­kets, free-range chicken, tra­di­tional fruit tarts and other Gal­lic del­i­ca­cies, the re­sult of Or­rico’s de­sire to cre­ate a top-qual­ity eatery of­fer­ing good, simple and ca­sual meals in a clas­sic at­mos­phere. Din­ers can also en­joy sump­tu­ous cheeses by Jeremy Evrard, a care­fully se­lected global wine menu by Ni­co­las Deneux and per­fectly ex­e­cuted cock­tails, in­clud­ing sig­na­ture high­balls by Gian­carlo Man­cino. Most of the items on the menu are avail­able for take­away in unique pic­nic bas­kets.
