Ai Wei­wei: Never Sorry

Get comfy, but not too comfy, for this in­ti­mate screen­ing of 2012 po­lit­i­cal doc “di­rected by Ali­son Klay­man. Fol­low­ing the pro­lific artist through the devel­op­ment of some of his most mem­o­rable in­stal­la­tions, in­clud­ing his “Sun­flower Seeds” at the Tate Mod­ern and “The Sichuan Earthquake Names Project,” in which he pub­lished the names of more than 5,000 stu­dents who died in the 2008 earthquake in Sichuan prov­ince. The doc­u­men­tary shows him be­ing beaten up by Chi­nese po­lice, be­ing de­tained at Bei­jing Air­port, and his new stu­dio be­ing de­mol­ished. This screen­ing is part of The Hive Stu­dios’ se­ries of docs, art­house and classic films. Aug 31, 7pm.
