Hong Kong Asian Film Fes­ti­val

Now in its 12th year, the Hong Kong Asian Film Fes­ti­val is big­ger than ever, with 63 films show­ing over two weeks.The fes­ti­val opens with Hong Kong di­rec­tor Wong Chan’s fea­ture de­but “and Chi­nese film “a com­ing-of-age flick about two best friends by di­rec­tor Derek Tsang (“Lover’s Dis­course”). Other high­lights in­clude a screen­ing of “Ja­pan’s first fea­ture-length an­i­mated film from 1945, and “the 18th fea­ture by South Korean indie au­teur Hong Sang-soo (“Right Now, Wrong Then”). Clos­ing the fes­ti­val is “di­rected by Feng Xiao­gang (“Af­ter­shock”) and star­ring Fan Bing­bing. Oct 13-31.
