Widely known as a skilled host when it comes to lav­ish cel­e­bra­tions at her Cen­tral rooftop restau­rant, SEVVA, so­ci­ety fix­ture Bon­nae Gok­son’s flair for the deca­dent ex­tends to her home where she en­ter­tains guests with a sub­stan­tial table­ware col­lec­tion that more than helps to set the mood for what­ever theme she has dreamt up that night. With every piece of crock­ery con­tain­ing a back­story that in­ter­weaves Bon­nae’s fam­ily his­tory with her per­sonal tastes, we asked the se­rial entrepreneur on the se­cret to set­ting a ta­ble to as­tound. 作為香港上流社會的中流砥柱,企業家Bon­nae Gok­son不時都會在其中環露天餐廳SEVVA舉行奢華宴會。工作以外,她亦會以嫻熟的宴客技巧配搭標誌餐具致力為座上的每位締造美滿的一夜。每套餐具均有引人入勝的故事,與她的家族歷史和個人品味互相交織。這位時髦女性與我們大談打造富麗堂皇餐桌擺設的訣竅。I love col­lect­ing beau­ti­ful crock­ery and cut­lery and by now, I must con­fess I have lots. If I have a din­ner party at home, it all de­pends on whom are in­vited be­fore I de­cide on the set­ting of the ta­ble. Most of­ten, it'll just de­pend on my mood or what I'll be serv­ing, and I go from there. I like to change the plates af­ter every course to give my guests a nice sur­prise. 我喜愛收集美輪美奐的餐具容器,數量的確車載斗量,無法計算。我會視乎客人的類型和風格從而決定晚宴的餐桌擺設,有些時候我純粹會依循個人感覺又或是當天的餐點而決定。我認為每吃一道菜便要更換一次盤子,這定必能為賓客帶來驚喜。

I trea­sure what's left of my fam­ily's huge set of jade green Chi­nese crock­ery that was cus­tom-made for them in Jiangsu, China. I also love the ex­ten­sive set of ster­ling sil­ver, every sin­gle piece of which has my grand­fa­ther's name in­scribed on it. It was [used] to serve up to a hun­dredodd guests. My par­ents had given a lot of the sil­ver gifts from their wed­ding to our fam­ily's de­part­ment store, Wing On, which was founded by my grand­fa­ther in Shang­hai dur­ing its most glam­ourous years. Out of those, two huge punch­bowls were made by Wing On's sil­ver de­part­ment, and they’re ir­re­place­able. 我對家族祖傳的綠色翡翠餐具情有獨鍾,它是江蘇專門定制的珍藏。另外,刻有祖父名稱的純銀餐具亦極具特色,曾經招待數百多名賓客。由祖父於上海創立的永安百貨公司亦贈送了不少銀器紀念品予我的父母,作為他們的結婚紀念品。當中有兩個大酒杯是由百貨公司的銀器部門專門定制,可謂價值非凡。I do not en­ter­tain too of­ten at home now, but I love to 'play house' and cre­ate ta­ble set­tings with all the stuff I've col­lected. I don't just col­lect brands. I have a lot of knowl­edge of beau­ti­ful home­ware and table­ware – my sis­ter and I started JOYCE Home­wares some years back, which grew from my great pas­sion for seek­ing out and ap­pre­ci­at­ing beau­ti­ful things.我在家中並沒有太多的餘慶節目,閒時我喜歡發揮創意,以各地搜羅的擺設佈置一番。我不會僅僅收集名牌產品,家品和餐具的內在美學才是真正重點。數年前,姐姐和我推出JOYCE Home­wares家品系列,完美展現我對精湛作品的積極探索和熱愛。Flow­ers and ac­ces­sories are as im­por­tant as table­ware in dress­ing the ta­ble. Some­times, in­stead of just ar­rang­ing flow­ers in the mid­dle of the ta­ble, it's lovely to do in­di­vid­ual flo­ral set­tings for each guest. It all de­pends on the oc­ca­sion – ev­ery­thing is pos­si­ble! 鮮花與配飾與餐具同樣重要,兩者均能為餐桌更添深度。除了把鮮花放置中央外,花朵亦能作為獨立的元素並安排予每位賓客也不失創意。所有擺設均可視乎情況而定,萬事皆有可能!//
