COLOUR PLAY HERMÈS

Bold hues greeted the guests of Hermès, which showcased its home collection in an impressive exhibition at La Permanente. The museum housed soaring structures clad in 150,000 handmade glazed tiles from Morocco rendered in shades of turquoise, amber, sea green, sienna and more. In line with the maison’s overall theme of “play,” the home metier featured whimsical pieces as well as referenced games, most notably the tangram, which was the inspiration for the creations of Italian designer Gianpaolo Pagni. Alongside a finelycrafted leather drawer on the Vice-Versa occasional table, a standout was The Pli’h series— decorative desk objects crafted out of a single sheet of bridle leather and held together with four stitches of white linen thread.

HIDDEN TREASURES GIORGETTI

To mark its 120th anniversary, Giorgetti worked with architect Chi Wing Lo to produce the Cabinet of Memories, a clever bookcase featuring 120 compartments for your treasures. The cabinet can showcase 60 ornaments at a time; when you want to change the display, simply slide the top panel to reveal the other 60 pieces you have placed in the cupboard. You can also position the panel so that all 120 compartments, though a smaller portion of each, are shown for a different effect. giorgetti.eu為慶祝Giorgetti踏入120年,品牌與建築師盧志榮聯手推出共120個隔間的智能陳列櫃Cabinet of Memories。 giorgetti.eu

LIGHT AND DARK LALIQUE

Lalique collaborated with renowned French designer Pierre-Yves Rochon for the Signature collection of furniture and lighting fixtures. Rochon has taken crystal—a material usually used for dinnerware and ornamental objects—and used it in different ways to enhance the collection, which includes tables of various sizes, a Coutard chair and chandeliers, adding levity and shine to the wood or metal pieces. The Soudan pedestal table features panels of clear crystal etched with a geometric pattern and matched with a nickel frame and base—the sort of furniture that can easily pass as a work of art. lalique.com水晶品牌Lalique與聞名法國設計師Pierre-Yves Rochon聯手合作,推出經典珍藏Signature系列傢具和燈飾。 lalique.com

A CASE FOR CELEBRATION FENDI CASA

This year marks the 30th anniversary of Fendi Casa, which celebrated the milestone by launching a made-to-order capsule collection designed by French designer Thierry Lemaire, while paying homage to three of its most iconic products. These classic designs now feature new materials and finishes—the Cosima seat from 1994 is now upholstered in blue nubuck leather; the Eros sofa from 2004 in beige leather upholstery with blue trimmings; and the latest One sofa representing the culmination of its 30 years’ of history. The Italian fashion house also introduced Fendicucine in collaboration with Italian manufacturer SCIC—it’s the first-ever Fendi kitchen range designed for homes and professional kitchens.

TWO BECOME ONE FLEXFORM

Known for their timeless collections and extremely comfortable creations, Flexform is a favourite of both industry experts and discerning home owners. This year’s presentation showcased how flexible the pieces are when it comes to finding pride of place in any space. The exhibition featured two distinct set-ups espousing different perspectives and lifestyles. One side was designed by long-time collaborator Antonio Citterio, who filled the space in calming shades of cream, olive and cyan that speak of a classy urban sanctuary. Dominated by a mauve mixed with cool grey and camel, Carlo Colombo’s setting showcased a more sensual side of the brand.

ODE TO ART MOLTENI & C

Elegance underlines every endeavour of Molteni & C and this year is no exception. Their installation was envisaged as an art collector’s home, filled with covetable artwork sitting alongside their equally collectible furniture pieces. The sophisticated scenography by creative director Vincent Van Duysen was the perfect foil for pieces old and new, which include the screw-free Woody chair—a debut collaboration with designer Francesco Meda—as well as an extension to Ron Gilad’s successful Teorema collection. Molteni & C also reissued Gio Ponti’s D.859.1 table, which can seat 10, in its original finishes of solid ash with bronze ferrules; it is also available in darker toned wood and smaller dimensions.

A NEW SPIN MINOTTI

Minotti marked its 70th anniversary with a feast for the eyes and soul at its vast showroom during the centrepiece at the Salone del Mobile. Just one of many standout pieces was the Waves coffee table by Nendo, which has hollows of various sizes to cradle your magazines and newspapers. Topped with a glass surface, the coffee table manages to make clutter look both tidy and part of the design.

TEXTURAL CONTRASTS PORADA

Porada debuted the Killian bed designed by Marconato & Zappa, an architectural firm based in Cantù, Como. It features an oversized headboard made from solid walnut wood. Brass inserts that cut into the fabric upholstery add symmetry to the design. The legs, inspired by a 1950s aesthetic, feature a brass finish, too, and round side tables are attached to the brass inserts. // Craving more Salone style?
