String

Hong Kong Tatler Best Restaurants (Hong Kong / Macau) - - Bar review -

Let’s face it: we all want to go out for karaoke from time to time. But if you’d rather avoid the spots frequented by screaming schoolchildren, String is a nice upscale option in Wan Chai. There are two main private rooms, one with a pool table and one with darts—though with a selection of cigars on the menu as well, the rooms tend to smell of stale smoke. With a huge wine list ranging from bin-end to Pétrus, there’s something for everyone. Sake, Chinese liquors, whiskies and standard beers feature, as well as classic cocktails including some not commonly seen at those modern mixology labs— remember the Black Velvet or the Midori Sour? Drinks are adequately prepared, while the staff are attentive and friendly.
