SCREEN TIME
Heritage brand De Gournay, best known for its careful craftsmanship and exacting bespoke services, which result in intricate wallcoverings and fabrics with ornate designs that can completely transform a space. The Coco Coromandel wallcovering is no different. It is inspired by Chinese lacquer screens that became popular in the West from the 17th century; a particular fan was fashion legend Coco Chanel, said to have owned 32 of them. To create Coco Coromandel, artisans studied a section of one of these screens, re-interpreting the carved craftsmanship by painting peonies, peacocks and other designs by hand onto Chinese rice paper.
