Ja­pan is trans­formed each year as the sakura (pink cherry blos­soms) ex­plode into view. The Im­pe­rial Palace in Tokyo, sur­rounded by hun­dreds of flow­er­ing trees, is one of the best places for hanami, the tra­di­tional cus­tom of “flower view­ing.” Take a row­ing boat to glide past the spec­ta­cle. The phe­nom­e­non takes place from late March un­til early May.
