As of April this year, lo­cal ves­sels, in­clud­ing fer­ries, hy­dro­foils and small craft, have had to switch to low-sul­phur diesel when chug­ging around Hong Kong wa­ters, thanks to a new law that for­bids the sup­ply of marine light diesel with more than 0.05 per cent sul­phur. “It’s slightly more ex­pen­sive, but be­cause it’s the only [fuel] we make avail­able, they are all us­ing a cleaner fuel,” says Loh.
