Ozone pollution from cars in Los Angeles has been halved in the past decade, and is down a whopping 98 per cent since the 1960s, thanks to a range of recent regulations. These include requiring all vehicles to be fitted with catalytic converters, the use of cleaner fuels, improvements in engine efficiency and the promotion of hybrid vehicles.
