Tiffany & Co’s new design director, Francesca Amfitheatrof, made her first piece of jewellery at 15. A trained jeweller and silversmith with a master’s degree from the Royal College of Art in London, she loves music, film, theatre and likes Asian art and ceramics. What do you like most about your current collection? I’m excited about how Tiffany T is sculptural and bold, and very closely linked to the architecture of New York, the relentless movement, optimism and creativity you find on the city’s streets. It’s a place of courage and reinvention. What do you love most about your job? Tiffany & Co has always been a company of great innovators and dreamers who are constantly pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. We’re unfettered by historical styles or schools of design. Rather, we create with a freedom to make—and break— our own rules. If you weren’t a jewellery designer what would you be? I would be an international traveller and ‘citizen of the world’.
