Only the second Asian jeweller to present her work at the Biennale des Antiquaires in Paris, mainland-born Diana Zhang is debuting a highly anticipated collection this year, inspired by Chinese flowers. A self-taught designer, her passion for beauty transcends boundaries and sometimes, commercial sense. She once refused to sell a piece because she couldn’t bear to part with it. Completed pieces can take anywhere from 10 months to two years to produce, with each stone selected by Zhang. What do you love about your job? I don’t see it as a job. It is more of a philosophy in life, my passion, and I consider myself very lucky to be able to indulge in what I love and work on these marvelous pieces. I get so happy when I see ladies wearing my creations and really enjoying them. Who would play you in a movie? Audrey Hepburn, for her ethereal beauty and warm heart. Her elegance is timeless. Currently reading... Christie’s jewellery catalogues and books on famous jewellers fill my shelves. If you were an ice cream flavour... Strawberry, because of its colour, taste and look.
