Art of the Sale Asia Art Archive Auction and Dinner
More than HK$11 million was raised for the Asia Art Archive at its annual fundraising auction. Among the guests gathered at the China Club library for the event, hosted by the archive’s founder, Claire Hsu-vuchot, were collectors and VIPS from the art world, who bid generously. Christie’s, which sponsored the event along with Van Cleef & Arpels, staged a three-day preview of the artworks. Artists whose work featured in the auction, which took place during a lavish dinner, included Arnold Chang, Fung Ming Chip, Zhang Xiaogang and Cao Fei. The slate also included works by artists from Cambodia, Japan and India. The money raised will go towards the archive’s mission of documenting the history of contemporary art in Asia within an international context. Among the guests were William Zhao, Kevin Chau, Elaine Marden and Yana Peel.
