Worth­while Jour­ney Save the Chil­dren Gala

A per­for­mance by Ar­nel Pineda, lead singer of the rock band Jour­ney, re­ceived thun­der­ous ap­plause from the more than 300 guests gath­ered at the Four Sea­sons ho­tel for the an­nual Save the Chil­dren Gala, which was spon­sored by the Pru­dence Foun­da­tion, the char­i­ta­ble arm of in­surer Pru­den­tial in Asia. The char­ity’s chair­man, Barry Stowe, de­liv­ered a wel­com­ing speech be­fore din­ner, and rep­re­sen­ta­tives from Save the Chil­dren or­ga­ni­za­tions in the re­gion ad­dressed the guests as they dined. An auc­tion—which in­cluded boxing gloves, a jacket and T-shirts au­to­graphed by boxer Manny Pac­quiao, and a gui­tar au­to­graphed by the mem­bers of Jour­ney—fetched HK$6.3 mil­lion for Save the Chil­dren’s work in aid­ing vul­ner­a­ble chil­dren around the world. Actress-singer Gigi Le­ung was also present at the event.
