Hong Kong Tatler - - Boats -

The “E” in the name stands for evolution, because this member of the award-winning Maxi Open Mangusta fleet has been extended by a metre and given more aggressive styling at the direction of its owner. Befitting a Bond baddie, the boat is named Moonraker.

The rocket association is apt when you consider the performance of this 50-metre triple-engined masterpiece. It will hit 40 knots, making it the fastest machine here.

The interior is sumptuously contemporary, with a grey-and-black colour theme, soft furnishings, 15 kinds of wood, 10 different marbles, including the eye-wateringly expensive blue tiger eye, exotic leathers and other handsome materials.

The five skylights over the dining room table help make the yacht at home with its environment. The four staterooms sleep eight guests, and Moonraker can accommodate a crew of nine. The generous deck areas include an outdoor bar, Jacuzzi and ample space for entertaining. There is also a range of water toys on board, including two jet skis, four sea scooters and scuba gear—for when those 007 fantasies take hold.

Moonraker is available to charter from US$217,000 a week.
