sk any of hong kong’s art folk what excites them most about the city’s future, and they will point to the opening of M+, the art museum in the West Kowloon Cultural District. It may not fling open its doors until 2018, but construction is finally under way—a feat which many of the city’s movers and shakers felt was worth commemorating. To mark the start of the build, Lars Nittve, Ronald Arculli, Victor Lo, Carrie Lam and other big names gathered with primary school students from around the district to plant a commemorative time capsule on the grounds of the museum. It contains artworks by students depicting their wishes and aspirations for M+, personal messages to a future Hong Kong generation from Lam and Nittve, and photographs of the M+ construction site. The time capsule will be uncovered in 100 years.
