AGAINST THE GRAIN

Hong Kong Tatler - - Milan -

PRADA The surprise at the Prada show wasn't just the violet sand dunes acting as the collection’s backdrop, but also the return of Australian model Gemma Ward (below right), who opened proceedings after almost a decade away from the industry. For openers, Miuccia Prada experimented with fabrics including a variety of luxe brocades and raw cotton, assembled in patchwork form on top-stitched coats and dresses that stopped right above the knee. Aviator-shaped sunglasses were wrapped in leather (also top-stitched) and we all know Miuccia's ever-present obsession with chunky shoes—wooden clogs were reimagined as Mary Janes and mid-calf boots.
