How would you define modern beauty?
Beauty today lies in embracing imperfection and in being an individual. Modern beauty should be about using all the benefits of science to enhance what is natural and healthy.
When did you learn to take care of your skin?
My mother always emphasised the importance of looking after your hands and face. She bought me my first moisturiser from an Estée Lauder counter—i have such strong memories of the unique and subtle blue-green hue of the Estée Lauder packaging from my childhood.
How do you stay healthy?
Sleep is so important. It’s when your body repairs itself, so I try to get eight hours of sleep each night—if my son will allow it, that is. I don’t do much sport but prefer more relaxed exercise that comes naturally to me, such as long walks in the countryside with my family and basic yoga.
What’s your evening beauty routine?
I’m a low-maintenance beauty girl, so I have just a few key products I can’t live without. I love a good moisturiser, like the Estée Lauder Ultra Diamond Transformative Energy Crème. And I always use a gentle make-up remover, such as Estée Lauder Perfectly Clean Multi-action Crème Cleanser, which is particularly necessary when I’m acting.
And for the day?
I like BB creams because they give me sun protection and even out my skin tone. For my make-up, generally I’m into a more natural look. I’m very fair, so I always use black mascara, such as Estée Lauder Double Wear Zero-smudge.
