A new standard for Napa Valley, a prestigious port, beautiful Brunellos and the Great Wines of Bordeaux event make James Suckling’s monthly news round-up The Best and Brightest
The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino wines were released in January and are some of the hottest on the market at present. The vintage is a new benchmark for Tuscany’s most famous red, surpassing the quality of the acclaimed 1997. The 2010 grape-growing season was extremely long and harmonious, which produced wines with wonderful structure for ageing yet bright fruit, and a savoury character that makes them mouth-wateringly good to drink now. James Suckling rated five of these wines a perfect 100 points.
