George Butler is an artist and illustrator specialising in travel and current affairs. In August 2012, he crossed from Turkey into Syria, where he spent several days drawing in the midst of war. He has since made similar trips to Syria, Lebanon, Transylvania and Afghanistan. His work has appeared in such publications as The Times, Guardian, Evening Standard and Der Spiegel, and on broadcasters such as the BBC, CNN and Al Arabiya. He illustrates our feature on the explosion in elephant and rhino poaching in Africa (p.206).
