With summer approaching rapidly, we can’t clear our minds of the bright ocean waters and a fun-filled excursion to a sandy beach
The shade of coral has been a long-time fashion favourite for the warmer months. But the actual coral reefs? Perhaps it’s their season to shine. Print extraordinairess Mary Katrantzou ventures out with designs comprising complex overlays of embroideries on dresses and trouser separates. Meanwhile, Stella Mccartney takes a similar approach, and reinterprets the spongy sea creatures as prints and embroidery on breezy, flowing tunics and dresses with a busy mashup of other contrasting patterns. Keeping with her fuss-free aesthetic, Mccartney balances out the busy prints with occasional translucent sheer panels and a simple off-thebody silhouette. When it comes to accessories, Sergio Rossi’s collections with coral have a graphic appeal and resembles Matisse’s famed paper cut-outs.
