The Bal­let Ball, one of the first events on the sea­son’s so­cial cal­en­dar for many peo­ple, at­tracted the crème de la crème of so­ci­ety, who turned out dressed to the nines at the Grand Hy­att to sup­port the Hong Kong Bal­let. A packed pro­gramme of live mu­sic, dance per­for­mances and a live auc­tion kept guests en­ter­tained well into the night. The pres­ti­gious event spon­sored by Prada, held on Septem­ber 11, be­gan with a speech by Hong Kong Bal­let board chair­man Daisy Ho. She spoke about her pas­sion for the art form and re­called how her fa­ther used to take her and sis­ters Pansy Ho and Maisy Ho, who were also in at­ten­dance, to The Nutcracker ev­ery Christ­mas. The Bal­let Ball Gala Com­mit­tee chair­man, Maya Lin, then in­tro­duced her com­mit­tee, which she jok­ingly and proudly pointed out con­tained an in­creas­ing num­ber of men, in­clud­ing Eric Fok, Ron­ald Kwok and Am­brose Lee.
