Setting the Barre High THE HONG KONG BALLET BALL
The Ballet Ball, one of the first events on the season’s social calendar for many people, attracted the crème de la crème of society, who turned out dressed to the nines at the Grand Hyatt to support the Hong Kong Ballet. A packed programme of live music, dance performances and a live auction kept guests entertained well into the night. The prestigious event sponsored by Prada, held on September 11, began with a speech by Hong Kong Ballet board chairman Daisy Ho. She spoke about her passion for the art form and recalled how her father used to take her and sisters Pansy Ho and Maisy Ho, who were also in attendance, to The Nutcracker every Christmas. The Ballet Ball Gala Committee chairman, Maya Lin, then introduced her committee, which she jokingly and proudly pointed out contained an increasing number of men, including Eric Fok, Ronald Kwok and Ambrose Lee.
