High-octane stunts from Cirque Adrenaline and chortles aplenty at the Udderbelly Festival

A circus on steroids.” That’s how critics describe the globetrotting phenomenon that is Cirque Adrenaline. A highpaced contemporary take on the traditional arts of the big top, its troupe of more than 50 consummate performers delivers classic clown and juggling acts along with the heart-stopping tension of aerial feats and death-defying motorcycle stunts. One of the nail-biting highlights involves a large rotating apparatus aptly named the Wheel of Death on which daredevil acrobats execute perfectly synchronised moves. But it’s not all about holding your breath—a liberal scattering of comedy leavens the adrenaline-charged mix with plenty of laughter.
