Why bet on red or black when you can head to Sabrina Ho’s Poly Auc­tion Ma­cau and put your money on a Xu Bing?

he lat­est open­ing in Ma­cau gives the city a new way to back a win­ner. Sabrina Ho, as di­rec­tor and CEO, launched Poly Auc­tion Ma­cau last month, a branch of the Chi­nese state-owned Poly Group that in­cludes Poly Auc­tion Hong Kong. Eye-catch­ing lots on the block at its in­au­gu­ral auc­tion on Jan­uary 10 in­cluded mas­ter­pieces by the late artists Chu Te­hChun, Wu Guanzhong and Lin Feng­mian along­side pieces by such con­tem­po­rary artists as Takashi Mu­rakami and Zhang Enli. To mark the oc­ca­sion, Sabrina se­lected works from 60 post-1975 artists from Main­land China, Hong Kong, Ma­cau and Tai­wan to fea­ture in 60 guest rooms she per­son­ally de­signed at the Re­gency Ho­tel Ma­cau. With a se­ries of events planned and co-or­gan­ised by Poly Auc­tion Ma­cau and its part­ner, Chiu Yeng Cul­ture, which was founded by Sabrina, the ven­ture is set to in­vig­o­rate the city’s cul­tural di­ver­sity.
