The month of luck and love calls for a colour that sends all the right signals

Hong Kong Tatler - - Style -

Supersitition and tradition dictate that red is the colour of luck. While the life-changing powers of a shade are debatable, the month of romance is no time to take risks. It’s rouge or lose, whether you echo Berluti’s boys—who strode out in lavender-pink suits with svelte strawberry accessories, and are the sort of chaps likely to have booked flights to Paris on Valentine’s Day—or you channel the tomato-coloured, anorak-wearing Hermès lads. For those fearing a case of scarlet fever, Gucci’s claret brogues are a sublime adjunct to a charcoal suit, while handkerchiefs and buttonholes from Canali and Lanvin give an amorous nod to the trend. Whatever you do, you’ve got to get yourself into some cerise chaps—after all, you might get lucky.
