Aldo Conterno Barolo Cicala 2011 A chewy and rich Barolo with dried mushroom, berry and hazelnut character. Full body, round and silky tannins, and a long, flavourful finish. Layered and complex. Better in 2018, but so delicious now.
96 points Aldo Conterno Barolo Cicala 2010 Shows more roses and mineral character than Colonnello. Full body, with a beautifully round mouthfeel and depth of fruit. A chewy, rich wine for the vintage. Drink now.
93 points Aldo Conterno Barolo Cicala 2009 The aromas of crushed berries, flowers and cocoa are enticing. Full to medium body, with soft tannins and a fresh, clean finish. Very refined. Better after 2015.
92 points Aldo Conterno Barolo Cicala 2008 The grapes in this are grown in more clay soil than Colonello, which is sandy. Love the aromas of strawberries and flowers. Full body with chewy tannins. Needs more bottle ageing than the Colonello. Don’t touch it for at least five years.
96 points Aldo Conterno Barolo Cicala 2007 Stunning, with liquorice, flowers and dark fruits all over. Full, super-silky and sexy. I’m in love with this wine. Will age for decades, but harmonious and beautiful now. Gorgeous.
