VIP PREVIEW FOR DAVID BECKHAM: THE MAN

Lucky Number 7

Hong Kong Tatler - - Faces Soiree -

Although his time on the pitch is in the past, retired footballer David Beckham unsurprisingly still manages to draw a crowd wherever he goes—as was the case at the invite-only dinner that David Tang and auction house Phillips hosted in his honour at Howard’s Gourmet in Central. The evening provided an exclusive preview of the London exhibition focused on the debonair star, David Beckham: The Man, which features original signed photographs and newly commissioned works by the likes of Steven Klein, Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin, Nadav Kander and Tessa Traeger. Some of the works were brought to Hong Kong to display at the preview, and all of them were to be auctioned off in London after the exhibition in support of 7: The David Beckham Unicef Fund and the Positive View Foundation.

A number of the city’s movers and shakers were thrilled to mingle with the man of the hour. And more than a few ladies were spotted hovering around the display area; perhaps some were quite taken with the striking black-and-white photograph of Beckham showing off his sculpted physique and extensive collection of tattoos in nothing but his Emporio Armani briefs. We’re sure that particular photograph had no trouble garnering bids when it went on the block.
