High-end watchmakers are slowly warming up to smart watches—well, at least some of them. They’re vigilant in setting their iterations apart from purely smart watches, so we’re seeing mechanical-electronic hybrids with faces that can easily be taken for a traditional mechanical watch. A case in point is the Samsung Gear S2 by De Grisogono, which is installed with various applications and features but has a traditional watch face framed by a diamond-set gold case. Of course, there’s the much-anticipated Connected—the result of Tag Heuer’s fruitful collaboration with Intel and Google. To the delight of many, the Connect maintains the appearance of a classic Carrera model.
