Hong Kong Tatler - - Upfront -

As soon as the plates were cleared, awardwinning cover band Liquid Blue fired up. The group, back by popular demand, was flown in from the US for the ball and played chart-topping hits that had Claudia Shaw, Samuel and Carmen Lee, and Denise Ho on the dance floor. Ladies swapped their stilettos for hotel slippers, and tumblers of The Macallan whisky were out in full force. It wasn’t long before Peter Cheung and Benjamin Vuchot took to the stage to sing along to Copacabana, while Thierry Mandonnaud and Ivan Pun challenged each other to an impromptu dance-off. Photographer Laurent Segretier threw a few moves of his own as he captured the fun and frolics. His photos can be seen here and on Hong Kong Tatler’s website. When the clock struck midnight, a DJ took over to usher revellers into the wee hours. Mini pizzas and spring rolls were served, much to everyone’s delight. The final treat came in the form of goodie bags, which contained the ultimate traveller’s survival pack: travel adapters from Vacheron Constantin, candles from Shanghai Tang and bottles of The Macallan 12 Years Old Fine Oak. The adventure thus ended and the shoeless, couture-clad revellers returned to reality. Andrew Yuen Kristie Lu Stout
