Bigger and better than ever, Clockenflap makes an exciting move for its ninth outing
he city’s beloved Clockenflap music and arts festival will cross the water this year to deliver its beats and boisterousness on the Central Harbourfront for the first time. If such amazing ease of access to the November 25-27 feast of entertainment isn’t enough to lure you to dance the night (and day) away, then the stellar line-up of acts certainly should be. International superstar DJS the Chemical Brothers are headlining the festival. With six albums that hit number one and 13 top-20 singles to their name, the legendary electronic duo have been a leading force in England’s big beat and electronica scene for over two decades. Renowned for breathtaking live sets, complete with custom-made robots, psychedelic images and immersive light shows, their one and only Asian gig of 2016 is not to be missed. Other highlights include one of the most famous Icelandic bands of all time, Sigur Rós, and the British rock band Foals, an Oxford quintet known for their incredible anthem-art rock sound, punchy rhythms and detailed guitar lines. Foals took home Best Act in the World Today at the UK’S Q Awards in 2015. There’ll also be sets from José González, Crystal Castles, Yo La Tengo, Fat Freddy’s Drop, Blood Orange and Die Antwoord. It’s Hong Kong’s coolest party and you would, quite seriously, be bonkers to miss it.
