Chief Ex­ec­u­tive Le­ung Chun-ying pre­sented the city’s top hon­ours and awards for 2016 to 322 peo­ple in a cer­e­mony at Gov­ern­ment House on Oc­to­ber 29. Car­rie Lam, Tam Yiu-chung, Chan Wing­kee, Vic­tor Lo (pic­tured left, re­ceiv­ing his medal from Le­ung), Hu Fa-kuang, Moses Cheng and Tsui Lap-chee all re­ceived the high­est award, the Grand Bauhinia Medal. The award recog­nises a per­son’s life­long and highly sig­nif­i­cant con­tri­bu­tion to the well-be­ing of Hong Kong. Tung Chen-chen and 17 others were pre­sented with the Gold Bauhinia Star. The Gold Medal for Brav­ery was posthu­mously awarded to fire­fight­ers Thomas Che­ung Yiu-sing and Sa­muel Hui Chi-kit, who died in the Ngau Tau Kok fire in June.
