ASIA ART ARCHIVE GALA DINNER

State of the Art

Hong Kong Tatler - - Faces -

A lively performance by the Hong Kong New Music Ensemble was one of many highlights at the annual gala dinner of the Asia Art Archive (AAA). Art aficionados, creatives and collectors alike gathered at the China Club for the much-anticipated event, which kicked off with a gracious welcome speech by co-founder and director Claire Hsu-vuchot. As always, the silent and live auctions were highly popular, with notable lots in the live auction including works by Japanese artist Takashi Murakami, Japanese photographer Daido Moriyama and Chinese contemporary artist Yan Lei. Another high point was the screening of a video specially created for the occasion to showcase the AAA’S work on the Ha Bik-chuen Archive Pilot Project. The family of the late sculptor and printmaker had invited the AAA in 2013 to assess, map and digitise Ha’s work to make it available to a wider audience.
