The celebrity bash of the year, the am­far Gala Din­ner, re­turns to the city for a third time, and it’s set to be as glitzy as ever

he galas staged around the world by the Amer­i­can Foun­da­tion for Aids Re­search (am­far) are renowned for lur­ing the glit­terati to party in the name of med­i­cal sci­ence, and am­far’s third an­nual Hong Kong din­ner prom­ises to be a re­peat of last year’s crit­i­cal suc­cess. The char­ity is ded­i­cated to end­ing the global Aids epi­demic through in­no­va­tive re­search. Since its launch in 1985, it has in­vested US$450 mil­lion in var­i­ous pro­grammes and made more than 3,300 grants to re­search teams around the world. Re­turn­ing to Shaw Stu­dios on March 25, the an­nual gala will draw a glam­orous col­lec­tion of lo­cal and in­ter­na­tional celebri­ties and VIP guests, in­clud­ing this year’s hon­orary chair, Char­l­ize Theron.
