“The high heel is a magician,” says Malone Souliers creative director Mary Alice Malone. “A beautiful heel will sculpt the foot and create a transformative reaction through the entire body. They will affect posture and the way you walk—but also the way you talk, the way you carry your head, your entire bearing.” And it is with this guiding belief that Malone, originally from the US state of Pennsylvania and now based in London’s Mayfair, designs each shoe. After training at Cordwainers at the London College of Fashion and developing her skills further at a number of renowned ateliers, Malone launched her own label in 2014 with business partner Roy Luwolt, who is now managing director. In the two-and-a-half years since its debut, Malone Souliers has joined the ranks at hallowed retailers like Bergdorf Goodman, Harvey Nichols, Matches, Moda Operandi and Net-a-porter, to name a few, and been worn by celebrities such as Diane Kruger, Blake Lively, Elizabeth Olsen and Poppy Delevingne. They’ve also just introduced a children’s footwear line, Minismalls.
