Swiss luxury watchmaker Hublot and 1980s English electronic band Depeche Mode do not spring to mind as natural bedfellows. But they are linked in a project that has brought clean water to over 30,000 people in Nepal and Ethiopia since 2009. Their partnership has now produced the “watch for water,” which was launched at Baselworld. Created by Hublot, it celebrates the band’s new album, Spirit. Proceeds from sales will fund the building of wells in rural communities in the developing world.
