As school bells ring in the distance, that’s the cue to start investing in classroomworthy jackets

Some fashions are fleeting flights of fancy, while others circle back every year and demand more attention. Just as surely as summer turns to autumn, blazers will always be a great trans-seasonal investment. This year take cues from schoolchildren themselves, with traditional piping and herringbone fabrics. The trick to making these schoolboy blazers look more boardroom than boarding school, more class than classroom, is in pairing them with unexpected accessories. From the fanny packs buckled waist-high over preppy jackets at Gucci, to the furry earrings offsetting serious tweeds at Balenciaga and the furry pastelcoloured baker boy hats at Prada, everyone is giving back-to-school an edge of the bizarre. Think less prim schoolgirl, more luxe truant.
