An evening of rev­elry and re­flec­tion awaits at the an­nual gala din­ner of the Women’s Foun­da­tion

More than 500 guests will de­scend on the JW Mar­riott Ho­tel on Novem­ber 22 for the an­nual gala din­ner of the Women’s Foun­da­tion, the pi­o­neer­ing non-profit’s flag­ship fundrais­ing event. With the theme “Re­flec­tions on the last 20—and next 20—years: What progress for women’s ad­vance­ment?,” this year’s event will pay trib­ute to fe­male em­pow­er­ment and the devel­op­ments that have ben­e­fited women since the city’s han­dover in 1997. The evening will fea­ture a daz­zling ar­ray of live en­ter­tain­ment, sump­tu­ous fare and a si­lent auc­tion to aid re­search and com­mu­nity pro­grammes for dis­ad­van­taged women and girls. The key­note ad­dress will be de­liv­ered by An­son Chan, Hong Kong’s first fe­male chief sec­re­tary. Michael Bloomberg, the founder of Bloomberg Phi­lan­thropies, will also speak. They will em­pha­sise the im­por­tance of STEM— sci­ence, tech­nol­ogy, en­gi­neer­ing and math­e­mat­ics—ed­u­ca­tion and ef­forts to pro­mote the de­vel­op­ment of fe­male lead­ers. twfhk.org
