SHUTTLE FLIGHTS/PER-SEAT CHARTER
Shuttle flights are shared, regularly scheduled charter flights on business jets whose seats are sold individually. In other words, it’s a new term for the old concept of “per seat” charter, a model which may finally be gaining traction after several failed ventures. Jetsmarter has some 40 shuttle routes in the U.S., Europe and Middle East. A new entrant, Bliss Jet, has launched a shuttle service between New York and London this year, and other providers have announced plans to launch their own shuttle services.
Meanwhile, arrival of at least one of these service models in the Asia-pacific region is imminent. Late last year Japan’s Sky Trek ordered 20 Kodiak Quest turboprop singles for a new membership based private travel service it’s inaugurating.
