like HYT decided to break up the wristmounted offerings this year, combining an age-old tradition with state-of-the-art fluid timekeeping technology. Bearing a somewhat sinister feel, the Skull Pocket Watch is perhaps no more impressive than its wristwatches, but a delightful addition. The hefty 59mm case houses a manual-winding HYT caliber that beats at a standard 28,800vph and works on the 65-hour power reserve. Its retrograde movement relies on a bellow mechanism that pumps green fluid through a thin tube around the skull outline, and the key feature is the fullymechanical LED system that illuminates without battery, mind you. 80 microscopic components work together as the LED light generator and power storing bank. Once powered up, a push piece at 4:30 sparks two LED lights to shed a blue light on the skull from the 6 o’clock position, lasting a full five seconds. This power is manually-charged by turning the same crown at 4:30. The lightweight DLC-titanium piece is finished with a sturdy titanium chain.
