renowned for its high volume watch releases; it has to cater to its audience and satisfy the masses. It does, however, enjoy sneaking in a hyper-interesting, high-end model or two into their presentations, continuing to bolster this slowly but surely blooming sector. The Rotonde de Cartier Mysterious Double Tourbillon was certainly a headturner this year, thanks to its ambitious caliber 9407 MC featuring a floating tourbillon seen at 10 o’clock, and what lies beneath the surface: an on-demand minute repeater. The former completes a full rotation once every 60 seconds and is held in place by a rotating sapphire disc that turns every five minutes. A sheer delight to the eyes and ears, perhaps the greatest achievement of the Rotonde de Cartier Mysterious Double Tourbillon is that it houses all 448 individually-finished components in a 45mm case at 11.15mm in thickness. For a touch more grandeur, a version set with baguette-cut diamonds is also available.
