Abstract

into three Family stages: visitors pre-visit,0is an important onsite-visit part and of post-visit, museum visitors. this research Through investigated dividing the family museum visitors’ visit motivation of the museum visit, their on-site visit experience, their evaluation of the museum and further influence on them. It discovered that the social interactive programmes and activities in the museum are not only the key attraction of family visitors’ visit, but also the focus during their visit. Parents prefer their children’s learning activities in the museum to be more active, participatory and interactive. Furthermore, this research found that family visit to the museum is not completely children-demands oriented. Rather parents also have needs of relaxing and communication with their children. These findings provide empirical evidences to the theoretical research about family visitors and to the planning of family visitor oriented exhibitions and activities in the museum.
