2016 Hangzhou Fibre Art Exhibition

That's China - - Events -

Fibre art refers to fine art whose material consists of natural or synthetic fibre and other components, such as fabric or yarn. Modern fibre art takes its context from the textile arts, which have been practiced globally for a millennia. Fibre artists face the same dilemma that all artists wrestle with; "what is art?" This question is particularly prominent in the fibre arts world - and with other media associated with handicrafts -as they have long been associated with domestic or utilitarian production. The exhibition also includes an international forum titled Textile Thinking, which will draw participation from renowned scholars from the world over.
